Ravenguard/B.Templar 4 Sale & BA update

Well, first and foremost, I did put up a few of my Ravenguard units up on eBay, so if your interested check them out. I think youll be able to get them for a great price:

My Beloved Ravenguard Dreadnought:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180479229816&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

A Ravenguard Rhino:

Now, as for the blood angels, progress is resuming. Without seeing the codex, Ive painted up a nice base army which I will likely use and my backbone to expand upon once I get my hands on the codex. At this point, I have 10 assault marines with jump packs, 10 tactical marines, a drop pod, rhino, razorback, predator and dreadnought ready to rock (still need to paint dreadnough and predator).

Now, with those core I plan on running:

10x Tactical squad - Combat Squad with Lascannon; Sergeant w./ Powersword, combi melta, meltagun, razorback (may switch to flamers from meltas)

10x Assault Squad - Powerfist, Meltagun

Dreadnought in drop pod - No idea what variant I will run

Predator - Las/Autocannons

2x Attack Bikes - H.Bolters or Meltaguns (not sure, but they hang back with the predator to provide cover)

I think this puts me at about 825 points or so, then again Im not certain without yet seeing the new codex...

So, I have about 1025 points left for goodies... Im thinking assault termines, more assault marines or veterans/d.company, 2 baal predators(maybe), another Dread in pod, and finally an HQ... For those of you who have seen the codex, share with me your thoughts... Where do these new marines strengths land? How good are the furioso dreadnoughts over a standard one with multimelta? Will a librarian lead my army? Are veterans really better than their scoring assault marine counterparts (I know Dante makes them scoring, or so I heard, but I don't think ill run a a uber character)?

Predator : Freehand

Meet the Ravens Claw - a Destructor pattern Predator.

So, it has been about a week since I have been able to make it online to post, but that doesnt mean I havent been busy. I was on vacation, and decided to take home some paint, brushes, and the predator "destructor" pattern tank (Autocanon and Heavy Bolters). For whatever reason, I never see this tank being used by anyone other than me. As a raven guard player, I naturally try to avoid any heavy tanks such as land raiders (I dont need them with shrike (infiltrate & fleet on my terminators) anyway). I just dont ever see anyone using the land raider get their points back from it, other than driving in to drop off the assault terminators. Dont get me wrong, they are awesome machines, but just not for me. As I was saying, the predator destructor is a very viable option for taking down just about any troop in the game (2x s7, 6x s5, 2x s4 shots for 95 points (by adding a storm bolter) with front armor 13). While this never poses the same threat as the vindicator, it also doesnt turn into an automatic fire magnet or 115 point terrain piece with a weapon destroyed result. Im thinking in large games over 1500 points, I may just run 2 or 3 Predators in this same pattern. I hope to finish up this tank within the week, then move onto the drop pod.

I wonder if this tank will be more prevalent with the release of the new Nids codex? I know I just needed some more ranged firepower to bring down some of those space wolves ill be seeing out there, given they have more attacks defending than I do on the assault... While its not the best option for taking out marines, 2 or 3 of them will provide ample fire power AND ill be ready for the bugs.

What do you all think of the free hand wings and checker pattern? I have more work to do on it, but do like where im going...

Assault Terminators vs Space Wolves

Well, im a little over half way through painting my assault terminators... I actually spent time painting them today at the local GW store, and of course I spent some time assessing the new Space Wolves codex.
Damn, while I dont think the wolves are as powerful as the new IG, they still have some sick units.
One advantage still in the SM codex is the assault terminators. You can kit out space wolf terminators in the same gear, but not for 40 points a pop like in the SM codex.

The one unit i fear the most are the blood claws, with 4 attacks on the charge (+2 attacks on the charge). While they are only WS 3, they still hit a marine on a 4+ (not a 5+).

Anyway, here is my latest SM Assault terminator, ill have a pic of the unit up once completed (again, over 50% complete now).

NEW POLL Question: Which 5th Ed codex is the strongest??? Orks, SM, IG or Space Wolves. My vote still is in going toward the IG...

Another Distraction - Building a Raven Guard Army...

Well, I decided that im going to be building 2 armies at the same time. While im going to continue with da boyz, I realized this army is going to take me a long, long time to paint and build (well, really just paint). So, I decided to take my 1500 point space marine (painted ultramarines army) and simpled greened some of it.

I sold off the Rhino, Vindicator, Terminators, Scouts and Telion, along with 10x marines. I will probably sell of the remainder of my well painted stuff, but I stripped down about 1/2 my army. I decided to go with an army I dont see often, the Raven Guard.

Im thinking of running is with a couple of tactical squads, a couple of assault sqauds, command squad in razorback, etc etc etc all led by Shrike.

Anyone who wants any tips about stripping down plastic/metal models with simple green, leave a comment. All I can say is it WORKS! Some colors are easier to strip than others however.
